Training to Help Drug Endangered Children

For over 25 years I have had the pleasure of working on social issue, crime awareness and crime reduction projects with a variety of law enforcement, social service, treatment and education organizations. I means so much to me to be able to put my training and experience in the media production field to use by collaborating on projects that make a real impact in the world.

In February of 2020, after two years of working with the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (DEC), Milani Consulting and Fox Valley Technical College, the most recent of these projects, a set of four online training courses for professionals who work with drug endangered children, went live.

These free courses explain the risks face by children living in families or situations impacted by drug use, sales or manufacturing. They also explain how DEC Alliances function and how they help better connect professionals who work with these children, and in turn, improve the lives of the children.

In the first seven weeks of availability, nearly 1000 people from 44 different states plus Puerto Rico, working in a variety of fields, took the courses! And the response has been very positive.

This is what participants had to say about the National DEC Online Courses:

  • Excellent Training for Child Protective Investigators and other Providers in Child Care and Mental Health and Substance Abuse fields.

  • The course was easy to follow and interactive to stay interested.

  • This was excellent and I am recommending it to everyone in my office at the child advocacy center! I liked that I chose when to click "next" so I could finish note taking if desired.

  • Excellent online training!

  • Great Course.

  • Nice multimedia content.

  • For 27 years I have been working and teaching DEC. This course is exceptional for the beginner or a subject matter expert. Thank you, great job NADEC.

  • This is very good and should be shared with home visitors and early childhood interventionist/therapist.

  • Excellent Training! This is one of the best trainings I have taking in a long time. Very informative and direct. Love it! Great Job!

  • Great Training, the real-life experiences were helpful.

  • This training is very informative I will recommend it to my colleagues, thank you.

The courses can be taken in any order and are accessible online at no cost. The course titles are: Drug Endangered Children Overview; Prenatal Risks; Postnatal Risks; and You Can Change the Long-term Outcomes of Drug Endangered Children,

You can set up a free account and access these courses and much more at I hope you'll take one or more of the courses, and share the information and course links. The more we know, the more we can do to help these vulnerable children.
