Today is Vietnam Veterans Day, a time to remember the 50th anniversary of the date the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam, and all those who served during that war.
As a generation of soldiers, Vietnam Veterans have not always been treated well. Many were shunned, or verbally or physically attacked when they returned from serving their country. Some chose to lock away the painful memories of battle and all that comes with it. Others were left on their own to live with post traumatic stress disorder, the effects of agent orange, depression or other side effects of their time overseas.
But today, we honor each of them, as we should every day.
